Burning Permits
The Municipality of the County of Annapolis does not issue burning permits, but the County does have a fire prevention bylaw. As an overview, the fire prevention bylaw states:
- persons are not to burn in a dangerous manner;
- burning must be done after 6:00 p.m. and before 6:00 a.m.;
- there must be appropriate supervision to prevent the fire from spreading and water and tools must be on hand to control it;
- no fires are to be started within 100 feet of another person's residence, structure or a highway.
In addition to the County's bylaw, between April 1st and October 15th (inclusive) burning permits are required in the county in many circumstances. These permits may be obtained from the Department of Natural Resources which has an office located in Lawrencetown.
Contact the Department of Natural Resources to determine whether you require a burning permit.
