Animal Control / Dog Registration

During the past several months, the public has come forward to volunteer their time and efforts in assisting the Companion Animal Protection Society of Annapolis County (CAPS) as well as making known their interest in adopting animals from the County Pound. All of your assistance has been much appreciated!

  • If you keep a stray cat or dog for more than seven(7) days, most likely you will be considered the new owner.

  • If you try to help a friend by temporarily taking their pet, you would be considered the new owner.

Suggestions for Finding a New Home for Your Pet

  • Phone AVR (678-2111) for free public notice

  • Place a free notice in “The Market” (825-3457)

  • Post a flyer in Vets’ offices

  • Post a flyer in grocery stores, service stations, etc. (include a picture if possible)

The County will post a notice for private adoption on its website provided that:

  • the animal is up-to-date with health checks and inoculations

  • the animal is neutered or spayed

  • and you’re willing to provide your personal contact information for inclusion on the website

If you qualify, contact Dawn at 532-2335
